Again, getting back to the premise of “Nothing matters more than beating [Individual 1].”, I’d vote for just about any leftist, centerist or even rightist.
Yes, it sucks that the bar has been destroyed. But this is where we are, and we have to reset the bar back up if we want it back up. For now, beggars can’t be choosers. We just need the criminal out of the white house first and foremost.
As a former Republican (the party moved away from me), I will certainly vote for a leftist if for only to point out the hypocrisy of the party that (still) claims that “character counts” in electing Trump among others.
4 more years. Righties would vote for SATAN if they get what they want. They don’t care what they need to do to reach their goals and they’re winning because of it.
Nothing matters more than beating the Republican. By the way, I haven’t heard of any Democrat saying they wouldn’t vote for Warren in order to beat Trump. (Or even Sanders — he’s not really a Socialist you know.)
In November 2020, the ultimate single-issue election will happen. That issue is defeating the traitorous incumbent in the White House. Trump and as many Republicans as possible must be removed from office if America is to survive as a democracy.
Hillary Clinton did not lose the election because she was a centrist. Clinton had a 70% approval rating before she announced her candidacy. The Republican/conservative attack machine went after her at maximum effort. Then they cheated in Wisconsin to win.
Why?? If trump is reelected he will be able to fill Ginsburg and Bryer’s seat with extreme conservatives and replace Thomas with a 40 year old conservative= a 7-2 reactionary court until 2050 when many of us including Ted may be worm food; lower courts will be equally stacked.
For the Democrats to win, a goodly number of semi-cult members will have to turn their attention away from their Facebook feeds and Faux News and vote for a Democrat. They will also have to win over a large number of culturally conservative African Americans and Latinos. We know people don’t vote in their own best interest, so moving too far to the left could be a problem for the Democrats.
The regressives have proven they will lie, cheat, and use foreign help to win, so Warren, for example, will be spit roasted over an open fire as the reincarnation of Karl Marx. This is the fear. The leftists will likely vote for whoever their candidates is this time around. But the key will be to woo at least a few of those who voted for the psychopath last time and persuade them that they voted for an obscenity in 2016.
What drives me crazy is that the discussion has moved so far RIGHT that people who used to be mainstream middle-of-the-road Democratic, like Bernie Sanders, are now seen as “leftists.”
I’m sorry, a New Dealer (like Bernie) isn’t a “leftist.” They are, at best, a Social Democrat. There is NO major candidate in the campaign who is a “leftist.” They pretty much all want to work within the system, with capitalism, and use existing approaches to doing things. Elizabeth Warren is smart, capable, and has a thoughtful approach to doing things, and the GOP and the media are already gearing up to make her the wild-eyed radical, when she is only proposing a 2% tax on income above $10 million!
The problem with the extremists (depicted in your comic) is that the cult mentality is the same regardless of whom you’re worshipping. If you still think Hillary was a worse choice than Trump, you’re deranged.
the first panel is wrong and the last panel is hubris. Trump won not because Hillary was a centrist. Trump won because at least one third of this country truly supports his agenda, people genuinely disliked Hillary and Jacobeans like Rall will let the fascists take control rather than sacrifice their “purity” In the last panel, Rall is right about those people but is no different. The answer to his question is the same as why a centrist should vote for a lefty. If he can’t embrace the former, he has no reason to demean the latter.
I’m a social liberal and fiscal conservative. Even 40 years ago, folks on the right were surprised by this. We now have 40 more years of experience, and it turns out that most liberals are actually fiscal conservatives, at least relative to the way the GOP behaves… and it remains true that most conservatives don’t believe that.
I’d vote for a chimp at this point. You seriously wouldn’t vote for a centrist if the alternative is a rightist? I don’t understand this kind of thinking.

The right left definitions have become muddled.
Trump calls Dems socialists and traitors.
Right wingers side with a thief, liar and racist.
What we need is a return to sense.
A good start would be to stop putting psychopathic liars who don’t believe in reality in charge of the country.

I wonder if the DNC would actually be that foolish. They could draft her in the 2nd round if none of the others get 50% plus 1.
Remember that the Superdelgates are not gone, just restrained. If it goes to a brokered convention those “king makers” regain most of their power.
