I just figured it out, we can forget about worrying about climate change. Hardly any of us will be alive in 2075 and beyond which is what some people say is the doom year. We will let some genius born in the 2030’s figure out the solution to the problem while we can go on pumping tons of carbon into the environment in our mad pursuit of the good life.
Why is it so hard to get to know, understand, and form alliances and trade with people in other lands with different customs but so easy to rob our future of essentials to build armies out of fear of the unknown?
I really wish every every Democrat would answer that question with “the same way you finance war”, or even, “we’ll use QE”. But the majority of Democrats are also supporters of the global military empire and the all-powerful banks. A progressive takeover of the Democratic Party can’t happen fast enough.
Eisenhower defense philosophy was a bigger bang for the buck-development of the nuclear force instead of a large conventional land force. I doubt we will ever be involved in a conventional WWII land war again; the days of large tank battles, Midway scale naval battles or aerial dogfights are long gone. trump pledges no more Middle East wars over sand so will our defense billions $ go to maintaining an army of Beetle Baileys that will never leave Kansas.
Wesley Clark’s new memoir casts more light on the Bush administration’s secret strategies for regime change in Iran and elsewhere.
On the first visit, less than two weeks after Sept. 11, he writes, a “senior general” told him, “We’re going to attack Iraq. The decision has basically been made.”
Six weeks later, Clark returned to Washington to see the same general and inquired whether the plan to strike Iraq was still under consideration. The general’s response was stunning:
“‘Oh, it’s worse than that,’ he said, holding up a memo on his desk. ’Here’s the paper from the Office of the Secretary of Defense [then Donald Rumsfeld] outlining the strategy. We’re going to take out seven countries in five years.’ And he named them, starting with Iraq and Syria and ending with Iran.”
One problem, these days the military are the ones who DON’T WANT a war. It’s the president (to make him feel like the hero “war president”) and his corporate millionaire supporters who huge profits to be made (if we don’t loose), the lives of possible millions of soldiers and poor civilians mean nothing to any of them.
The Pentagon and DoD have NEVER been audited. Yet they keep getting money for the latest technology jets that never seem to work properly, tanks that go directly to storage and missiles that cost $800,000 EACH.

There’s just not enough profit in happiness, education, health and prosperity.
Ya, know, other than the blindingly obvious benefits.

Funny how few people in government or in the corporate media ask how we’re going to pay for more wars and ever increasing military funding.

Every civilization ever has gone bankrupt eventually due to the high cost of maintaining a fighting force. America teeters on the brink.

It’s not the military that “Wants a War”. It’s usually cnicken hawks who have never served nor experienced combat; like Cheney, Bolton, Rumsfeld, etc.
