Those presents are so valuable, because it’s only a short window of time between when they want to and when they start to feel like what they make isn’t a “real” present.
My freshman year of college I made my three sisters stuffed letter pillows in their first name. Sewed by hand. As I remember I did this because I had little money. But I can’t remember making them- the steps, buying the material, cutting them out! Did I really do that??
Maybe I only made their first letter, not all the letters of their name? Not sure! LoL it has been a long time since the middle 80s!
Boy, do I miss those days of homemade gifts from my children. I kept all of them in a box, and would hang the ornaments they made on our tree. But the last time we moved, that box got lost, and I have none of those things anymore. I was devasted when I realized they were gone. Now my kids are grown with kids of their own. Last year, my oldest grandson gave me a glittery, macaroni tree ornament. You can bet it’s in a place of honor on my tree.
We’ve already did our shopping…on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We’re ready. Comic strip or not, we don’t let the grass grow beneath our feet like they do.

Yes, it does get more complicated as one gets older, like so many other things. (:-)
