I’ve sometimes felt like I’m too tired to sleep, but counting sheep won’t help me go to sleep. Usually when I can’t sleep it’s because I have too much on my mind about what I need to do the next day at work, or just sort of re-living the busy day I just finished. I wish I knew how to make my brain shut up sometimes so I can fall asleep. And those studies that say you should shut off computers & TV’s, etc. hours before bed if you want to get to sleep are full of bunk. When I lie awake a long time, sometimes I get out of bed and play some games on the computer for a half hour or so. Then I go back to bed and I quickly fall asleep.
We are still at the hospital and I am awakened around 2:30 when the nurse opens the door for a peek. Starbucks in the next building doesn’t open until 4 and I don’t get back to sleep. We really want out of here, he is just being monitored while waiting for test results. I am running out of clean clothes.
@Tad1: I see lots of grey squirrels in my yard and a black squirrel or two. I don’t know why they find my yard so fascinating since my two trees are an ornamental (i.e., no fruit) cherry and grape trees. Nothing there to interest them. However, there are a lot of black walnut trees in the neighborhood and they scurry around with big walnuts in their mouths. They also bang the walnuts open on things so I’m glad that I have a garage to keep my car inside and out of danger.
I’ve never tried counting sheep, but then again, I’ve seldom had trouble falling asleep. I once slept through a thunderstorm, believe it or not! On another note, saw two crows while out walking yesterday. Didn’t see any animals out today, unfortunately, although I did hear some birds. (I don’t know what kind they were, though. )
