I was once playing baseball, and in left field I was nice and dry, but the infield was getting drenched. I had to get soaked in order to be “safely out of the rain”.
Reminds me when I was on the farm and we had shotgun showers. Lay a double barreled shotgun upright on the fence. Shower came one barrel full of water and other barrel dry!
