Better than to be shaken down by the private insurance companies to pay their bloated salaries, and then not have everyone covered.

Is that how it works in Japan, Australia, Scandinavia, etc?

    Nope.

What happens in those countries is that there are rules limiting healthcare costs. HMOs and pharmaceutical companies aren’t allowed to wantonly gouge consumers as much as they want.

Who are the real thugs shaking down the consumers here? It’s not the government, and even if it is, it’’s only at the behest of their CORPORATE BOSSES.

Look all the way up to the top if you really want to know what the source of the problem is.

Continued douche-baggery from Ramirez. We can spend 14 billion on a single carrier, but moving our tax dollars to something that Congress enjoys is a no-no.

Last year people borrowed 8 BILLION for medical bills. Others just declared bankruptcy. The sad part is they still died and the families are left in debt. But Mr. Ramirez doesn’t mind at all as long as he doesn’t have to pay more taxes. MONEY is sacred and should not be desecrated by taxes. Oh! Did I mention Mr. Ramirez is PRO LIFE!!

I wonder how much the combination of employees, businesses, and the various local and federal governments cough up for health care now compares to the amounts in Warren’s proposal.

There’s a lot to criticize in Warren’s financing plan, but shaking down the average worker is in no way part of it. Apparently Old Sheldon feels threatened and victimized by it, though.

In 1980, CEOs were paid 42 times more money than the average U.S. worker.

In 2017, CEOs were paid 361 times more money than the average U.S. worker.

CEOs get more than 1,000 times as much as their workers earn at thirty-three American corporations.

From 1980 to 2017, workers’ wages increased 23%.

    From 1980 to 2017, worker’s productivity increased 138%.

1% of Americans, the richest of the rich, received 27% of the tax cuts in 2019.

Since 1970 the richest 1% of Americans have doubled ‘their share’ (?) of national income.

90% of American workers are being robbed blind.

The ‘well to do’ top 9% of Americans yearly income is 20 x less than the 0.1%ers.

We are the richest country in the world.

We rank 7th in workers’ pay rates.

America is the only western nation that pretends we can’t afford decent health care for citizens.

It’s not a conservative vs. liberal question – it’s about having the money that 99% of us earn stolen. This will not stand.

We can easily afford national health insurance if our family’s health were not treated as an obscene profit engine. The super-rich paying their fair share would just be icing on the cake.

There is a shakedown to pay for medicare for all, but it’s not the fired worker. It’ll be the uber rich with more money than sense that get the shake down.

Do they ever do anything for the country or is everything they do just for their selfish selves?

As I understand it, Warren’s plan would include collecting what the employer pays on the employee’s insurance coverage (as a tax on the company, I assume). I am sure that there will be details that have to be worked out if it should ever come into actuality, but it doesn’t look as if the workers or the employers would be out all that much. It’s probably the private insurance companies that will be screaming bloody murder about it.

As opposed to the current system, where insurance companies do… the exact same thing. Without Medicare for All, we Americans would still pay 52 trillion dollars for healthcare, except for that it would be on the private market with incomplete coverage. Medicare for All would cost slightly under 52 trillion dollars, while covering every American’s healthcare needs.

Golly, if we just privatized all the fire departments and the police departments, imagine how much our taxes would go down.

It’s time to end this outrageous government shakedown that the cartoon is showing.

Switzerland has universal insurance coverage that uses the private insurance companies (probably not a surprise to anyone who knows the Swiss), but the government requires that all companies provide a basic coverage at essentially identical cost. Those who cannot afford the cost are supplemented by the government picking up the tab. If, however, you want special privileges (such as a private room when hospitalized) you can buy a supplementary plan from your company. I might mention, that although the Swiss system is about 1/2 the cost of the US system on a per capita basis, it is still a more expensive system than the rest of the European nations.

Notice not one of the folks commenting touched on the 50 TRILLION dollars that will be needed to pay for this. Face the facts, liberals. Even the others running for President on the left have accused her of not telling the truth. You can’t really think that the middle class won’t be hit with the largest tax increases in history, as this doubles what the gov’t currently spends on EVERYTHING. You can take ALL the money from the wealthy, and it wouldn’t put a dent in this monstrosity!

Maybe if we didn’t pour $trillions into fighter planes that can’t fly – the F-35 – and carriers that don’t work properly (7 of our 11 are currently out of service) and Littoral Combat ships that aren’t survivable in combat….Maybe that’s why we can’t have national health care.

And who are the world leaders in discovering new drugs? Not Japan, Australia, et al. We do need, however, to level the playing field by not overcharging Americans for the same drugs the rest of the world gets for less.
