Like watching bluejays selecting p-nuts. They pick one up…look around…drop it… choose another…and repeat the sequence until — invariably — they fly off with the first one!
Phil, have Marm take all the sticks home to use as kindling.
Any dog can bring back any stick, but Marmaduke isn’t just any dog.
Figure out how to get him to pee on it before first throw. Plan-B, you pee on it.
Oh give Marmaduke some time, think of what time it takes you to figure out what you want to eat, to do, to go etc etc….
