Think of it this way, you get an extra hour for your sugar coma so you don’t need to lose any of your normal Sunday free time.

Oregon has passed a law permanently setting clocks to Pacific Daylight Time. But. The law will not go into effect until California passes a similar law (Washington already has) and the federal rules need to be changed to allow it. As they now stand, states may opt to use Standard  time year round, as Arizona does; but not Daylight  time as the Oregon law proposes.

The Eastern time zone is so wide in Canada that sunrise is 98 minutes later on the western edge as opposed to the eastern boundary.

Idiocy! Idiocy! Changing clocks twice a year is an utter failure of rational thinking. We went to the 24 time zones in the first place to avoid having every stop on the railroad line being 5-10-15 minutes different from the ones on either side of it, now it’s time to do the same thing for the entire planet and just go to one world-wide standard Universal Time, so everybody’s clock reads the same time everywhere and people can set their business and office hours however they please.

Good God! Move the clocks thirty minutes and be done with it. Australia has 0:30 jumps across their whole continent/island and seem to be happy with it.

OH! Wait; I forgot we outlawed compromise a decade ago.

It was the candy companies who pushed to move the change to after Halloween. They wanted an extra hour for trick or treating in daylight.

Just set the clocks ahead one hour and leave them there. The spring time change is a problem for me for a solid week, and it gets dark too early all winter.

Partly thanks to the end of daylight-saving time, partly thanks to deciding not to swim in the lake Sunday morning, and partly because of somehow being smart enough for once to allow/force myself to, I made sure to get enough sleep Saturday night. And to be perfectly honest, I didn’t like it much. It feels good on one level but if felt worse on another level. Gave me a headache and probably a certain amount of anxiety.

But lord, was it ever nice not fighting off narcolepsy at the drawing board or keyboard for once.
