One science fiction story has aliens coming to Earth. People flock to them to learn the secrets of advanced civilization. They are ashamed of how backward we all are.

The aliens explain we discovered nuclear weaponry in 1945 and used it just once at the end of a terrible war.

We hang our heads in shame.
