Christmas is over so Calvin no longer has to be on his best behavior.

I like the one with the tree growing through it.

Calvin’s not to subtle warning to his parents to get him what he asks for at Christmas next year.

Watterson did a lot of episodes with grotesque snowmen…

How is that head staying up?

I have a laminated copy of this strip… I had it on my laundryroom wall until recently (when I repainted.) Now, it’s a bookmark. :)

Quicksand snowman would be fairly easy to make.

I’ve heard of Halloween coming earlier, but this is ridiculous.

I heard a few years ago someone did do a Calvin snowman yard. There was a visit from the authorities…

This is simply the best!

Well this season I watched 4 Christmas movies and 30 horror movies so you know I love this strip.

Annual Favorite

I always loved Calvin’s snowmen. For years and years I had the original newspaper clippings on my bulletin board.

I like the one that looks like it was impaled by a tree. With enough snow, it would be possible to build that one.

Sometimes you can read too much into a child’s artwork. My sister-in-law is a first grade teacher. She tells of a story about a coworker who was concerned that a certain boy in her class always did his artwork in black crayon. It turns out he was almost always the last one to the crayon box and that’s all that was left.

This might be good for Calvin. All of us have our ways to work out our dark moods – hopefully though some socially-acceptable means: some through exercise, some by dancing, some through writing, some through art. With Calvin, it’s the snowman shop of horrors.

I’ve been waiting for these.

Watterson could make a book with just the snowman strips and it would sell as well as any of the others, if not better.

Little known fact: Calvin s a distant cousin of Morticia Addams

I would have made gruesome and absurd snowmen with one problem… even if there was a lot of snow, making big snowmen takes a LOT of strength!

I see to remember that Watterson only tried to write/draw strips that would make his wife laugh. I would bet she laughed quite a bit at this one…

I like the snowman holding his head and looking back at his headless body the best.

Great! It’s Winter at Calvin’s! I love Winter at Calvin’s. I wish we received lots of snow on the East coast of Maryland. I would do this in a heartbeat!!! LOL
