There was a bar in Walnut Creek, CA that had such a room for use during Monday Night Football when the broadcast team included Howard Cosell. It was revived when Dennis Miller was part of the team.
Place worked was across from a Sony TV assembly plant. Once a week a guy would bring out a cart full of defective TV tubes. CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! into the disposal bin. We used to claim that people would ;pay to do that.
PS, my son had a temp job one summer and he did that. It was wasted on him.
