Marcie and Peppermint Patty sit at the table with stacks of envelopes. Marcie says, "We've addressed a lot of invitations, haven't we, sir?" Peppermint Patty's tongue hangs out and she says, "I think I'm getting sick from all these stamps and envelopes."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty licks an envelope and says, "By golly, that stupid Chuck better appreciate all the work we're doing to give him this testimonial dinner . . Besides, he's a terrible ball player . . ."<BR><BR> Marcie says, "If we don't believe in what we're doing, aren't we being hypocritical, sir?"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty frowns and says, "I hate questions like that!"<BR><BR>

Yes, Peppermint Patty, you ARE being hypocritical, by being “two-faced” here—secretly preparing this big affair for “Chuck”, as a token of appreciation for his being such a devoted manager and such, and then you turn around and call him “a terrible ball player.” So, NO WONDER Chuck never wanted anything to do with you,Patty, and instead, always preferred the “little red-haired girl.”(not that SHE exactly wanted anything to do with Charlie Brown, though, sad to say.)

Of course, don’t forget, all this was basically LINUS’ idea, Patty, so blame HIM, if anybody, if deep down inside, you never really cared for “Chuck.”

Too bad they didn’t have “pre-glued”envelopes back in 1973, then Peppermint Patty wouldn’t have gotten so sick, from all that licking.
