Beethoven was indeed somewhat darker-complexioned by northern European standards, such that he was sometimes nicknamed “Spaniard” as a child, because he had a light olive cast, but that’s still a very long way from being black. He just wasn’t the kind of pasty white that looks half-dead under fluorescent light. :P
