Ellen is, no doubt an actual person under all that veneer of a public career. But it’s clear to me that her “friendship” with Dubya is at most something that’s NOT actually personal. Even public figures, as I perceive it, keep their actual personal friendships low key. They really don’t go out together to watch some sporting event. And then they don’t talk about it on TV.
I have no idea what’s in this for Ellen: My ability to put myself in her shoes stops at the “basically we are both human” level. As for Dubya, I expect he’s happy to be publicly nice to pretty much anybody. That’s how we got the Cheney-Rove White House and all the horror (some mentioned in this ’toon) that ensued.
Look, we all know what a bunch of evil douche-bags those people are, but not everything has to be about politics all the time!
Dubya, and his dad, are living proof that you can be a horrible politician and still be someone that you can have a beverage and a decent conversation with…
Colin Powell is somewhat interesting: he was a Realist, and didn’t support the war like Cheney or Rumsfeld, but “had” to support it anyway using Bush’s Liberalist rhetoric: you can see in his speeches from the time that he was trying to act Liberalist but Realism kept seeping through.
GW had his agenda when he was in office as did his administration. Didn’t have a thing to do with the betterment of the common American. I doubt he lies awake at night worrying about how he sent the military on his personal vendetta or that they are still in these areas. Generally speaking, the rich have never thought we “little” people really “feel” like they do.
No, Ellen really, really hates right-wing Trumpism. And anything not Ellen-inspired political activism. When a then 16 year-old apolitical singer Jackie Evancho defied Ellen by singing the National Anthem for her country and the opportunity to sing for over a billion people worldwide, Ellen actually went degenerate with a tirade, and then purged her websites of all instances of Jackie related to her show. And to her. So the 2-faced kissy kissy with GWB shows Ellen the Degeneres smarmy semi-evil smile can be taken with a jaundiced perspective.

A couple of one-percenters sitting in a luxury box at a football game schmoozing each other. Doesn’t get more American than that.

Ellen is part of the owner class. This is not unusual.

Michelle Obama likes W, too. How come nobody attacks her?

Cheney installed a bump-stock on his favorite AK-37 for greater killing power, You go, Dick!
