It’s as if they weren’t speaking the same language, isn’t it? That’s because they are NOT speaking the same language. One’s based in reality and the other’s based in wishful thinking.
Of course the GOP is going to protect Trump. With this new scandal of the two guys “associated” with Giuliani laundering Russian money and donating it to GOP political campaigns, lord knows how many Republican politicians could be taken down with Trump.
Here’s another: ‘what the president said wasn’t really that bad, it doesn’t reach the level of an impeachable offense’. The only thing I’m surprised about is that Hair Groppenfuhrer didn’t invite his buddies Vlad and Kim to do the investigating.
…it doesn’t reach the level of an impeachable offense…
I’ve not heard any rational person explain to me what this ridiculous little bit of sophistry is supposed to mean!
For the record, an “impeachable offense” is ANYTHING the majority of the House of Representatives DECIDES it is! If the House decides that “spitting on the sidewalk” (an ACTUAL crime in certain American cities, by the way) is unbecoming to the presidency, and is, therefore, an impeachable offence, then “spitting on the sidewalk” really is an impeachable offence!
“Reaching the level..” is merely an attempted distraction, as is the “… there was no quid pro quo” argument – NOWHERE in the statute is “quid pro quo” even mentioned!
The simple ‘act’ of requesting help from a foreign entity to aid in an American election is breaking the law.
Accepting a “thing of value” from a foreign power to aid in an election is also breaking the law.
No matter how you try to twist the facts, Trump broke the law when he asked Ukraine and China to aid in his re-election – and Congressional republicans KNOW this, already!
When Hillary, on the Rachel Maddow Show, suggested that, perhaps, democrats should solicit help from foreign actors just like Trump did in the 2016 election, the screams of outrage from Congressional republicans could be heard all the way out here to New Mexico!
As I’ve said on previous occasions, the GOPhant’s argument in panel 2 IS true, though not in the way the Porkyderm means it. Trump’s admission IS “Fake News” because it’s news about a FAKE.

My advice to Rudy – don’t go the the airport with a one-way ticket two days before you are scheduled to appear before a congressional committee

Let’s see how GOP spins the arrest of two associates of Rudy Giuliani.

Ahh, the CIA is experimenting on people with hallucinogenic substances again, eh?
All joking aside, it’s ironic that the Bush administration (Double-yew’s) had more to it of a “deep state” nature than any before or since.

The “Deep State”… not to be confused with Trump’s extremely shallow state.
