Steve Kelley can’t tell the difference between a parent disciplining a child, and a president of the United States telling a foreign head of state, “I need a favor…” and the favor is not some usual, normal form of international cooperation, it is asking a foreign government to interfere in a presidential election by digging up dirt on a political rival?

Has this now what it takes to be a conservative in the United States?

There is plenty of corruption in Ukraine. It is a legitimate issue. Trying to get the government to address it is legitimate.

But there are many, many known bad actors. When the ONLY NAME mentioned by Trump is NOT one of the known corrupt actors, but someone who the top prosecutor had already cleared, who just happened to be a political opponent, it becomes SOLICITATION OF FOREIGN INVOLVEMENT in an election — a felonious abuse of power.

The only “cookies” are the ones in the jar that Trump’s hand got caught in.

I always thought that Trump was mentally younger than that.

No. No I don’t. It is, rather, a perfect example of false equivalence.

Why, were the cookies illegal or cleaning the room? Soliciting dirt on one of your opponents while withholding legally appropriated funding is.

Trump’s phone all demonstrated a quid pro quo. He can say it wasn’t, but it was. You can’t just commit a crime and then say it wasn’t a crime.

I do hope you 1) understand the difference between parents and heads of independent countries, and 2) understand the difference between bribing a kid (which is not great parenting anyway, but that’s another issue) and bribing a head of another country specifically to get dirt on a political rival. And before you say it was about “corruption”, answer this: who else was targeted in this concern for corruption. Nobody? Then it wasn’t about corruption. Other than Don the Con’s, that is.

She’s not asking the brat to do her a favor; she’s teaching him to clear up his own stuff. Another lesson Trumpski never learned.

I’m pretty sure Trump had never heard the term ‘quid pro quo’ before this.

Gotcha mom.. It is indeed a “quid pro quo” as most of life is.. You work.. your employer withholds your pay until you.. work.

Trade out the Cookies for “Food and water” and you get more realistic take on Republican Parenting.

Unlike investigating Joe Biden, cleaning one’s room would not influence American democracy. I’m not even sure that Kelley thinks his argument is very serious. Very funny cartoon, though.

In Trump’s case, the cookies (payment) were already agreed to. It’s like the kid cleaned up his room and mum said, ok one more thing…you also have to hack dad’s phone so I can check his texts…
