Sattinger’s Law: It works better if you plug it in.

Corollary: and then turn it on.

I had someone working for me say that he reinstalled the printer drivers on his PC, dropped and reconnected to the printer, when he came into the lab we said is the printer on, checked and it was not. Not the Brightest Bulb in the pack

In the early days of PCs I was at a trade show where an exhibitor had a standalone kiosk with a PC locked inside driving a tutorial on the monitor. But I noticed a message on the monitor, which was clearly in DOS mode, saying something like “Heap overflow – 00438”. I told the hired figurehead girl in the booth about it and figured she would have to find a tech to fix the problem. Nope, she just came over to the back of the kiosk and unplugged the cord from an extension cable and plugged it back in. Problem fixed as the PC rebooted itself. I was too interested in fixing the heap overflow problem to think of the simple solution.

Many years ago, when I was a struggling single mom, my microwave quit working. It took 6 months to save enough for a service call. It was on the counter close to the wall. Guy pulled it out, and it was unplugged. Never figured out how that could have happened.

Occasionally my PC at work insists that my password is incorrect, even though I know that I am entering it correctly. A reboot solves the problem.
