On my 16th birthday my boyfriend came over and my dad grabbed his birthday card before I could and opened it and read the cute note outloud! Thank goodness it wasn’t dirty.

Interesting Martha’s mother screens her mail.

Mike, just go to your room and lock yourself in for a year or so.

In our house even a person’s junk mail is off limits without permission.

I had a fight with my wife over if we should open a letter that arrived addressed to my daughter. She wanted to open it, I didn’t. I won, and bought my kid a locking diary after that…

They can legally do that? These days there are all kinds of social media, so parents would have a hard time checking it all.

Parents have the right to monitor their children. If something suspicious arrived in the mail for your daughter, would you really think it’s illegal for you to open it? Having said that, I don’t think Martha’s mother should read Mike’s letter.

Okay, this just gets better and better. A little sad though. So much stress and dread over telling the heart felt truth.

I don’t know about Canada, but what Martha is saying is illegal in the US if the recipient is over 16 which I’m guessing she is since she is in high school.

After that, if Martha’s mother tried to get you in the car, don’t get in. The dog did, and see what happened to him.

Martha, you’ll find that letter buried amongst all your fan mail.
