@Number Three Today’s strip is slightly funny , our Hero Mr Andrew Capp’s choices in racing never win and he never gets any sympathy from Flo :o{ my avatar is a funny picture of a bloodhound refusing to sniff a suspect’s stinky underpants , the look on the dog’s face is priceless :o) , how was your day? ours should be busy but calm I hope have fun and thanks for caring pal.
This is interesting. In the early 1960’s a new British children’s comic came out called Buster. The central character was called Buster and wore a cap just like Andy’s. Indeed, Buster was referred to as the son of Andy Capp. If memory serves, Andy even appeared in some early editions before the relationship notion was allowed to drop. According to toda’ys cartoon, Andy really is Buster’s Dad.
1) The oldest joke told in The Rose and Crown: "Yesterday Capp stopped a runaway horse…he placed a bet on it! 2) Second oldest: “Capp wanted to bet a daily double , Strawberry Rash and Poison Ivy, but they were both scratched!”
Had a similar thing happen years ago. My wife and I were at the track and my horse (the odds on favorite) was leading the pack by about 4 or 5 lengths. I bent over to grab my beer and when I turned back around he was no longer there. I asked my wife what happened to my horse and she said that he died. I thought that she meant he ran out of gas and fell back into the pack until I looked and saw the attendants dragging him into the infield.
In the UK there used to be a kid’s comic called “Buster” – which was about Andy’s son … so interesting that the horse is actually called “Buster’s Dad” …https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buster_Capp
Wow, Buster was mentioned! I’m not really bothered whether the strip is funny or not. As long as the name “Buster” is used, it automatically becomes a great strip!

Sure glad we have a commentator letting us know when the strip is funny or not. Saves me having to think?

Andy should have made sure that he picked a horse smart enough to know which side of the gate to exit.

I read the racing form cover to cover and my wife looks at names and colours. She wins more than I do but I make more money as I risk more.

Face it, Andy — you’d lose even if it were a one-horse race!

That horse is no dummy. He’s saving his energy for when they come back around.

Did you know that Andy & Flo had a son named Buster? He had his own strip and I think Andy & Flo appeared in it once.
A lot of people (including me) seem delighted of the fact that Andy’s son was mentioned today.
My day was great. Thank you.

Interesting nod to Buster Capp. I hate to say it, but I don’t think I’ve ever read a Buster Capp comic.

Andy must be backing a long shot with the hope of a bigger win.
