Usually, the smaller the dog, the more likely it is to bite you. Maybe it’s a Napoleon complex.

It’s those big labs, and retrievers that tend to want to friends with everyone.

I have had very large breed dogs – Borzois, St. Bernards, Irish Wolfhounds, and Great Danes – and found that they were far less aggressive, very gentle, and more tolerant of children and strangers than the small breeds. Some of that gentility is in their nature but training and acclimation help to reinforce it.

Adults tend to be more uneasy around large breed dogs than kids – no matter how calm and gentle the dog is.

Absolutely. It’s nice and warm inside their stomachs.

Huh. Been there. Although I’m not ENTIRELY certain that is what the owner said to me, as the dog had just bitten off my ear.

I am not a dog lover. All I want to know about any of them is, do they bite or swallow whole? When I encounter one, it is “see and avoid” and I keep the pepper spray handy.
