Even if the vote for impeachment succeeds, there will be no conviction by the Senate. And since we’ve already heard the false “I’m innocent!” routine, it will only be louder and more appealing to his base.

Just do investigations and make it all public.

    Just develop the evidence.

    In public.

    GO where it leads.

And the crimes continue while Pelosi’s busy taking a “P”.

I think there’s a better chance with the 25th Amendment. It’s obvious to everyone his elevator doesn’t reach the top floor anymore.

I think disaster for him in the election would be far more satisfying. We just have to survive another year.

Open, public hearings need to be held on each and every front. Let the public see this before the election. The investigations need the light of day. They need to be broadcast widely. If probably best if this process begins in 2020 to insure the short memory of the ill-informed public is employed to sway the election.

The Dems are doing nothing. Moscow Mitch won’t bring a single bill up for a vote.

The so called president has called Dems traitors and has not worked with them.

If Dems do not bring up impeachment they will have done nothing.

If impeachment is brought up it will expose Trump’s crimes to the public and possibly swing the Senate vote. Not all Republicans are in lockstep at this point. Witness the ending of any rivals to Trump by the party and the refusal to release internal poll data to the republicans.

You have the Republicans vs the Trump Party at this point.

If Trump is smeared enough Republicans will be afraid to lose their own seats and vote for impeachment.

Pelosi does not want to upset a system that keeps her rich and powerful.

The pieces are coming together with or without Nancy’s “P”. Either you expose the trump for the fraud he is or you accept that it does not matter.

Please try to remember that the Nixon impeachment was opposed in the public polls until the evidence became so strong that public opinion changed. After that, the pressure on Nixon to resign became so strong that there ended up being no need for the trial. It’s often been said that the Nixon resignation was to get a pardon from Ford for possible criminal charges. I don’t know if that pressure would work with Trump, he being both more psychopathic and less intelligent than Nixon. Our main goal at this point has to be the uncovering of the evidence until even the diehards have to admit validity of the case. At a close to 60% disapproval that Trump has, it shouldn’t take too much more evidence to start changing public opinion.

Two things are perfectly true: if Obama (or ANY Democrat) were even SUSPECTED of doing things that Trump’s been PROVEN to do, the Republicans would be howling for impeachment. And impeachment would already be under way had the Democrats won the Senate. It turns out that elections do matter………

I admit to not being sure about this, right now. Although I do not like the very wealthy Nancy Pelosi, she may be correct. If Impeachment proceedings begin, is there enough incontrovertible legal evidence to oust this regime? If it does not succeed, trump may emerge stronger than before. And, as Baslim says (above), the Senate will not let it pass. . . . . . . . .On another, related note: I have recommended this book before, but now offer a different chapter. If you are interested, go to your library, or used bookstore. Get “The Collapse of the Third Republic” by noted, respected news correspondent/historian William L. Shirer. Read chapter 3 The Dreyfuss Affair". I suggest this not because of the scandalous mis-carriage of justice described about the French Jewish officer, but about the parallels in OUR AMERICAN SOCIETY today. As the author points out, he includes this in his book about the demise of the French Third Republic (1876-1940) because of the deep, bitter divisions it caused in French society, government and families. It is the final few pages in this chapter that you will recognize that the growing fissures of our current political AND social climate are approaching the “irreconcilable” point, as it did in France at the turn of the 19th/20th century, eventually leading to the debacle of the facist Vichy government in 1940. I especially hope that some Trump supporters will read this.(If you do get this book, read chapter 11 also. The parallels are strikingly similar.)

The Democrats should be worshiping the ground Nancy walks on, the Congressmen and women are just pandering to the base. Nancy knows a impeachment attempt would just get Trump reelected.

Dems haven’t done anything for 3 years, are they going for 4?

What is anyone’s motivation to vote for Dems except they aren’t republicans?

    That’s a weak argument.

Nadler should be leading at this point.

Force the IRS to release his tax return and once there is proof that he is a fraud and liar. Let the people judge him.
