Can we PLEASE go back to the days where we, as a nation, stood together as one WITHOUT a devastating event to pull us together? We shouted WE WILL NEVER FORGET, side by side for weeks. We comforted one another, no matter our skin color, religion, culture, gender… We honked horns in solidarity at those with the sentiment waving banners and flags on overpasses and on the side of the street. Where is the unity? We HAVE forgotten, and have taken the fight to our neighbors’ doors. What a shame…

Free love and nickel beer, burn the bras/draft card, aspire to great heights, stand up in the swamp…man’s (d)evolution = loss of humanity.

Of course, in trump’s mind, those are pistols aimed at “Those People”! You know… the BROWN ONES!!! Or the Female Ones. Or the LGBT ones. Or the Poor ones. Or the Liberal ones. Or the Non-Christian ones.

While I mourn for all the victims of 9/11, there’s a special place in my heart for the ones who were going up when everyone else was coming down.

With my apologies to the Brits for hijacking their rhyme…

Remember, remember the eleventh of September

    Airplanes, murder and plot.

I see no reason why twin towers

    Should ever be forgot…

“Dark house, by which once more I stand / Here in the long unlovely street, / Doors, where my heart was used to beat /So quickly, waiting for a hand,

A hand that can be clasp’d no more— / Behold me, for I cannot sleep, / And like a guilty thing I creep / At earliest morning to the door.

He is not here; but far away / The noise of life begins again, / And ghastly thro’ the drizzling rain / On the bald street breaks the blank day."

From In Memoriam A.H.H.: Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Elegantly simple, precisely on-point, and hits hard on at least two levels.

One of your best, Steve. It says in silence the profundity words cannot express. Brought tears. Thanks.

This Nation has never had any such time. We’ve only been united, and even then not completely, when we had “devastating” events.

This Nation was Founded to be Free. Not in lock-step of thought nor action. Our Founders made an adversarial government that allows the majority to govern, the minority loses until they become the majority. We are supposed to be at odds in order to grow.

WE the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…

conservatives oppose this Nation’s growth, the endeavor to be ‘a more perfect union’. conservatives are the enemy of the U.S., and have been since 1775..

And somehow, Melanie managed to wear a coat (in September?) with a seam on the back that looked just like a plane crashing into a building.

“Don’t be silly, you’re imagining things!”

And why is the subject of your 9/11 photo the two of you?

    As always.
