I am that guy. When someone says something totally wrong, my friends all glance at me because they figure I will correct the person. They even get annoyed at me for not correcting the person. They have said, “Correcting people when they say something stupid is your job in this group!”
I am that guy. I live in a shall we say “intellectually declining” region? When in high school I got punched in the mouth a lot. That was before “bullying” was a bad thing, tho. shrug
That is also my own personality, but I do not use it to correct others, but to enlarge the conversation so we all can have a common base to start from that is factual.
