My dachshund has had me being a vet/nurse since his back surgery 10 days ago! He had a herniated disk removed. (Ironically the same 1 I had to have surgically removed a few years ago! L-4/5)
Mine keeps me informed if something from the woods are near the house! I can never tell if a cat or Killer the dachsie gets the mice and leaves them around the yard.

My little dachshund is a jagdfrau. Poor rabbits and field mice get the worst of it.
