In most states you literally have to have a bank account of less than $100 to qualify for food stamps, Medicaid or AFDC. And then be able to live for another 30 – 42 days waiting to be approved.
Geez – just take a stopgap job at Starbucks or Mickey D’s, and keep looking for one in your field. I did it 4 times. I actually SAVED money while unemployed.
