“Bye, Jack,” says Luann. Are we sensing jealousy or something?

Just realized that Jack never stood up during the whole time he was talking to the woman. Guys don’t do that anymore?

Bet you these leads to nowhere and we wont see Kaylie for a long time

“Bye Jack” kind of says it all.

Hard to tell jealousy in a cartoon. Luann could just as well be saying, “Go have a good time.”

I guess Luann-Jack shippers are rather disappointed right now…

So Thursday & Friday Jack & Luann will discuss what happened just now?

I have to admit to being a bit disappointed. I like how luann‘s friendship with Jack has developed, especially since he seems to be such an all-around nice guy. That said, I like the fact that Luann seems to be cheering for her friend as he meets a possible new date, and doesn’t show any signs of jealousy or clinginess. That shows a lot of growth and maturity on her part! And that kind of maturity will help Luann in many ways, including in possible future relationships.

Well, I don’t see any jealousy on Luann’s part, today. More like amusement. Like she KNOWS what’s Jack’s next move is gonna be toward this pretty lady.

I gotta admit, Jack is a fairly smooth operator. I mean, giving Kaylie his card with the phone number to his place of work. And She eagerly TOOK it.

And Jack DID introduce Luann as his FRIEND. It will be interesting to see if Kaylie shows up at FITUP looking for Jack.

Or if Jack FINALLY “reads the tea leaves,” and makes a move in Luann’s direction.

I have my doubts……….., ;)

Looking at facts from Luann’s point of view:

1. Monday, Jack tells Luann that he is still doing the Date Pic thing.

2. Today, Jack introduces Luann as a friend and shows his eagerness in inviting and possibly keeping company with a lady who is a complete stranger.

Luann gives Jack a subliminal message. It is subliminal because Jack is tuned into Kaylie and whatever Luann is saying is coming in to him in the form of vestigial sideband modulation. He may not hear it now, but it may manifest itself later.

Hooking up with another woman in front of your date, just makes you wonder if there are more surprised behind your back. As for Luann, get used to it or just look for the ecit.

“Mind you, FitUp is just something I do in my spare time. I’m actually a mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper.”

To those who still wonder why the artists have not paired off Luann and Gunther: Luann is a dog person and Gunther is (or has become) a cat person. There you go…

Ah, it’s just as I called it yesterday: Bye, Jack! :D

Sigh- no sparks for Luann and Jack. She knows he is talking about the dogs when using ladies as a plural comment but says bye Jack – as she has a good sense of humor. She also may realize he has left her emotionally in search of a woman he can have a serious relationship with.

I want to thank Greg and Karen for plugging “Remember Me” tomorrow. I am going to try to make it to my local shelter! Very Cool!

This is kind of intriguing and tricky: is Luann being amused or sarcastic, as MD suggests, both of which signify different meanings, the first suggesting amused friend at such a muscle bound “ladies man”, the second an ironic amusement for the same reason, including how Kaylie reacted to Jack as a smooth operator. (Oh Sade I am going to play you today). Or, as I hope it’s just part of a series of hilarity ensues steps to Luann and Jack having a serious romantic relationship? I think so, Jack is a real gentleman, and clearly likes Luann, as a friend, they are comfortable with each other, but he clearly likes the attention he gets from women, and Luann doesn’t really play that. If they get serious, he better be focused on LUANN. Nancy would never approve of him if that happens, he wasn’t and she was hurt. I really wouldn’t want to make Nancy mad to tell the truth, talk about a tigress. But Luann has to decide she wants to take a chance, some indication, and I bet GnK will have him fall like a house of cards. But she is not there yet. She is far more confident than the little girl we all fell in love with, and she is focused on a lot more than boys. But any “boy” she would be seriously interested in has to show his man cards. Can Jack do that? I bet he can and eventually will. But then I am a Cubs fan. So there is that. -:)

Some people have manners but many don’t. How often do we see a pregnant or elderly lady standing on a bus or subway and tons of men just sitting there. Manners and civility are being lost and nobody cares.

Giving a gal a business card doesn’t seem very romantic but if she really interested, let’s wait. Let’s wait and see

he’s sitting next to his dog though, he may not have wanted to disturb him and cause a disruption…as a dog person you have to consider that and another dog person would understand.

Bye Jack but also Bye Puddles. The little dog looked at Pixie all the time. Kayle seems a great girl. Maybe Luann will help Jack with her in the same way she has already helped him to start his veterinary studies?

that should settle it …. no more “shipping” Jack and Luann. They are “friends” (without benefits).

The Jack character seems to be more independent in this episode. He is acting in a manner that is independent of Luann or any of her situations. Will Greg move Jack out? Start him in a new arc with Kaylie? Use this episode on to segue back to Luann’s man friend problems???

My man, Jack! As I suggested yesterday, he neatly put Luann in Friend Zone today. He invited Kaylie into further interaction in a safe environment. He followed it up in his introduction of himself by giving her his “number,” both phone AND physical. Kaylie looks to be a FitUp type.

Luann! Take a lesson!

Luann’s “Bye Jack” feels like a setup for him leaving the strip.

Jack introduced Luann, that was nice..just chatting. Think Luann “knows” and is happy for Jack.

I left my manly courteous way many years ago after three repeated episodes (California, Washington, Delaware) incredibly enough each event except the last two had different endings in which I said: “Never again!”All events in the morning in a crowded place I saw a woman/ Young woman/woman struggling in opening a door at a mall/store/office building while carrying packages/belongings(2) and me as a chivalrous idiot ran to open the door and hold it for them by saying: “Let me get the door for you, ma’am.” Immediately the women in every event dropped the packages screamed out their F*^&%@#$* lungs for HELP! One started to blow a whistle, another ran away from the door and the other dropped the packages ran into the office building and called security. Only in Delaware, another woman who was a witness defended me by saying in a loud “flowery” manner to the other woman, that I was only trying to help her. No apologies were givenThe other two, one apology only after the police got involved (the one with the whistle), the other apologized seeing me there just standing after I cussed at her stupid white ass.NEVER AGAIN!!

My take on today… Jack finds the new female interesting of course (or he would not have given her his card). But, in regards to Luann… I think she is both bemused/amused at Jack’s rather “obvious” actions… but, I also think that her use of "Bye, Jack " is a tiny bit of "hey, not all the “ladies” have left, yet" sort of statement.

I do not think it is an indication of jealousy by Luann…. just a gentle bit of nudging by Luann to indicate that Jack was being a bit too myopic. He did not really introduce or include Luann in the conversation to any appreciable sense.

We will still see him. Just not as often and never as more than a friend to Luann.

A bit heavy handed or being pessimistic on the part of Luann. Not really sure which.

Jack is smooooth operator!

I keep getting the feeling Kaylie was more interested in Luann than Jack.

Lu’s reaction is multi-faceted. That’s a smile she’s sporting. Is she recognizing that Jack is somewhat smitten (and not with her), in her polite adieu? Perhaps.

Kylie and Jack will become a thing, and she will break his heart. Lu to the rescue. It’s patently obvious.

Kaylie might not contact Jack at FitUp in which case that would be the end of her. It may be that she too is just being friendly and polite. But we have three more days of conversation between Jack and Luann to (hopefully) sort all this out. Luann’s comment in the last panel coupled with her expression suggests she is jumping to the conclusion that she has no chance to date Jack. BTW I find it interesting (maybe refreshing) that Jack puts animals and humans on the same level, e.g. “my friends Luann and Puddles”, like his friendship w/ Puddles is equal to that of Luann.

Luann’s lack of interest in just about every male who shows up since who knows when is getting old. Jack is kind, has been a good friend…not even a flicker? Now we’ll see her encourage him to go after this lady? What’s up with all this?

Kaylie, seems to have Jack in her sights.

So no jealousy. Guess we’re doing the “just friends” thing for now. Jack had shown an attraction for LuAnn earlier but guessing it evolved in to friendship and mutual respect?

Jack was never a great character. I won’t miss him.

Luann catches on quick. Though really she knew it would happen, he is an active hunter of women. Though in a good way.

It’s a shame I liked Jack and Luann together.

Looks as though Luann has made it official. While Jack is focused on Kaylie and company, Luann has given him his (dog-)walking papers….

C’mon Luann. After some early false assumptions, Jack is turning out to be a pretty nice guy. Much better than Aaron Hill ever was.

It had to do with the graphic layout of script. Not enough room for three characters and dialogue balloons. Sort of lazy on the artist’s part.

Can’t understand why many don’t want Jack to have a romantic interest in the new lady. He and Luann seem to be at a standstill with little in the future.
