Afghanistan has been called “The Graveyard of Empires” since the 8th century. It is an area of small, powerful fiefdoms, and there has never been a central government. It’s a gargantuan game of Whack a Mole. Get one area under control, and two others pop up. Fighting among themselves is the closest thing they have to a national sport.
There is no reason in the world for America to think they need to be an international police force, barging in where we’re not invited. Get out. Stay out.
