We were given a list of books for summer reading and told to read a certain number (I remember one year it was 7 but not other years). However since we had a different teacher the next year, we were never asked about them again.
I always had my nose in a book but the moment I was ordered to read one I just couldn’t open it. I hated to be told what to read as reading was my freedom. I haven’t read a single book I was assigned to read at school. Still now, a certain number of decades later, I just can’t bear the idea of reading them. And yes, it includes War and Peace.

If it was “War and Peace” I’d say ‘probably not.’

Starting things is easy; finishing those things is another story!

Does reading the cliff notes count?

Yes, it is always technical. The less you do the more you lose and not just at home.

At their displayed level of IQ it was probably “One Fish, Two Fish”…
