Oh, and according to Obama, the “Spend” rocket is supposed to read “invest.”

When Congress was mostly even but favoring Reps and Bush was at helm it’s Bush’s and the Reps fault for everything.

Yet, when the Dems were solidly in charge of Congress, but Bush was at the helm, it’s Bush’s fault for everything.

Then when Dems have Congress and the Presidency it’s somehow still Bush’s fault for everything.

And when Dems have Senate and Pres but not House it’s still the Rep’s fault for everything. Hmmm, I’m starting to see a pattern of dishonest blame. I have a feeling if Dems ran every branch for 20 years, all the blame would still be on Reps and conservatives.

Dj, did you actually look at the cartoon? The GOP wants to cut taxes and spend on certain things, but also wants to put a debt ceiling in place. These are utterly incompatible. That’s it. The Democrats don’t even come into it.

Um… there has always been a debt ceiling Motive, we just hadn’t heard about it till recently… and Obama wants to raise it, again, and also vied for the maintaining of current taxes aka tax cuts while stating that more money needs to be “invested” aka spent.

Regardless, how would being responsible to not spend too much be a bad thing? Isn’t that the goal?

My point is that the GOP doesn’t have sole control but is always blamed whether or not they have primary control or none at all and for any and all problems, especially with the economic blame.

Hence, you are wrong… Dems do come into it, at least as much as the Reps, unless you are politically partial.

No blame’s ever been put on Obama at all, never. It’s ALL been put on Bush.

Heck, most people think Obama’s Administration passed TARP ( http://pewresearch.org/databank/dailynumber/?NumberID=1057 ), but … naw… it’s always blame the Republicans.

Plenty of blame to spread around, really. But we never hear any of it aimed at Obama or Democrats… if only there were some sort of 24 hour news organization that could be [is] used to do just that… . *

Dj, my main point here is that your comment had nothing to do with the cartoon. Whether I agree with you or not is besides the point. The GOP has consistently proclaimed its commitment to a “balanced budget” and “cutting the fat,” but when in office does no such thing, even under the holy prophet Ronald Reagan. So one gets the distinct impression that this is just window dressing. No one to blame but themselves. I have different problems with the Democrats, but this particular form of hypocrisy is decidedly not theirs. It is nonsense to say that the GOP and Bush get blamed for everything. Nonsense. In fact, the GOP rejects blame for the things they actually did! Remember, Bush could not think of a single mistake he made in eight years of his presidency – a scary comment in and of itself. And of course, as Jade alludes, there is a 24-hour propaganda network that blames everything on the Democrats…CNN and MSNBC share the blame better than that!

^^ LOL on the close Jade. Good sarcasm.

I figured it was inferred, and obvious, that I was reflecting mainstream media (print, newspapers, tv, etc.) and the political discourse from up on high (i.e., Pelosi, Reid and Obama all continue to blame Bush and Reps).

Yes, the right does tend to blame the left, and the left blames the right. But since I do listen to and follow both, the right has been more objective and fair… despite lacking in many ways.

But FoxNews is not considered mainstream and Fox is not even considered a news agency at all according to the current administration. Hence, when one is to regard media rhetoric, it will be the ABC, NBC & CNN (& and their affiliates), Newsweek, NY Times, LA Times, etc., that are being referenced.

You are right, though, there is plenty of blame to spread around to both sides.

^^ interesting Motive, then I guess you either misunderstand me or, I don’t know. I had said that Dems share at least as much blame as Reps. Yet, only in the last 2 years could one party make 100% of every decision without approval of at least someone from the opposite party.

I think we said many of the same things… both parties share blame for many things and many hypocrisies. Certainly the GOP heavily fails on their decreasing spending rhetoric, this is why the tea party was so successful in ousting incumbents because many people on the right want more fiscally and morally responsible people (though authenticity of representatives to that effect is debatable).

Regardless, to think that somehow the media doesn’t grossly favor the left in blaming the right and not being critical of the left is extraordinarily naive, ignorant or what ever. Even Olberman admitted it’s true.

Example: there were nearly daily ridiculing of Bush’s wars for years, but how how often has MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc., harped on Obama’s wars? Little to none. When Obama spent over a trillion more dollars on another bailout, only FoxNews consistently gave a negative critique… yet Bush ate it for TARP from the left and even from the right. Agreed, the right wanted to believe TARP would work out, but were fighting their ideology in deciding whether to back it or not. Bush was to blame for Katrina, but Obama walked away from the Gulf Oil Spill clean.

    I could go on.

My take on this toon was that it was a left-leaning editorialist (as most are) unfairly ridiculing the Reps. However, I will admit my error as not remembering that Matt Davies is more middle right. So in that regard you were right to correct me… though that’s not exactly what you tried to point out to me.

In closing (did I just hear cheering?), while my comments truly did, in the end, have little to do with the ‘toon itself, I still hold that they are true.

^ LOL @ technicalities on debt ceiling. I guess I deserved that.

But my implication was obvious. I was simply trying not to write another several lines expressing a fact I thought clearly understood.
