Where’s the punchline? That is a common question asked of Mr. Lester.

This is a clever cartoon. Planned Parenthood was trying to focus on more than abortion when their board decided the danger to women’s health was too great given the anti-abortion fanatics. The past president wanted to focus on the broader array of pro-women’s-health issue.

The problem again is that the regressives see no ambiguity, no shades of gray trying to balance out the needs of the mother and the fetus. They have no trouble celebrating toddlers in jail, but they cannot see past their own noses when it comes to abortion. Nobody is pro-abortion. But you wouldn’t know that from the hateful rhetoric thrown at Planned Parenthood.

I guess it made sense to Lester at the time.

One could infer induced labor or abortion as the punch line.

I would like to see Mike get a laugh from 99% of the readers, not just the 25% or so that our deeply partisan society allows. There was a time when political ideas appealed to the whole of the population and the extremists were the target; it’s much harder when the parties are extreme and exclusive and try to deride the majority. Not one of your better ideas Mike.

C’mon guys. You might not think it’s funny, but it does make perfect sense.

Comparing “being forced out after eight months” and an abortion? The headline IS the punchline.

This is actually pretty clever. Not funny, no. And I certainly disagree with Lester’s attacks on Planned Parenthood. But it’s still clever.

To tell the honest truth, this doesn’t really seem like an attack on PP to me. It just seems like a play on the situation. Just my opinion.

Some of the population will laugh, some won’t. Depends on your outlook and your ability to “get” the joke.

That would make the head of PP like, the 3rd longest serving member of the Trump admin.

It’s a decent cartoon, though I’m laughing more at the fact that he felt the need to label the cartoo-nist, despite him sitting at a drawing desk surrounded by art supplies, with a pencil perched on his ear, while his Ed-Asnerish editor holds up the cartoon and asks him about the punchline.

C’mon, the punchline is obvious here. It’s abortion. And abortions are very, very funny. To Lester.

Damn. I’m astounded that Lester actually submitted a cartoon that is topical, almost politically neutral and clever! Good JOB!

In honor of Mike Lester and this comic I will now refer to any comic where you have to ask, “Where’s the punchline?” as a “Lester”. I do so decree.

Make sure you see the Lester on Tom Stiglich today (21 July)

I’m pretty sure he would have said terminated after 8 months (because IRONY) but some spineless editor required the change to prevent firebombing on twitter (or IRL) by the perpetually offended.

Can’t have women actually planing when they should have children. That, according to the GOP, is a liberal idea.

Guess the message is: All pregnancies, and births, should be unplanned. Nice.
