Fortunately, most of the resident’s base is over 65, and uneducated, a cohort that is not being replaced. Simply speaking, the current Republican ideology will be unacceptable to the Gen-Y and Gen-Z cohorts. Even if the resident should “win” reelection through chicanery, that would likely be the last time his aging supporter cohort will be able to a factor in elections.

Trump likes to refer to his critics as “haters.” How ironic!

A lot depends on whether the voters can be fooled into thinking that the only option to fascism is socialism. What ever happened to the middle ground?

Voter apathy will likely throw a wet blanket effect in 2020 as it has in most of the important elections in the past 70 years. The usual whine? Why bother? He’s going to win anyway. Throwing away one’s best chance for improving the quality of government is like a drowning person throwing away a life preserver because one doesn’t like the water.

I’m afraid this division is real and is affecting many families across this country. Vote blue no matter who in 2020.

As I’ve stated before: “Common hatred unites the most heterogeneous elements. To share common hatred, with an enemy even, is to infect him with a feeling of kinship, and thus sap his powers of resistance.” The True Believer by Eric Hoffer

This has been the Republican election strategy since Pat Buchanan devised the “Us and Them” theme, to get Richard Nixon elected by courting the Bible Belt and dis-enfranchised southerners. It has worked rather well, don’t you think?

The battle lines have been drawn. The next election is going to be a referendum on whether the USA is going to be a xenophobic shithole country fit only to be run by a con man. Pick a side.

    Psalm 52

You tyrant, why do you boast of wickedness against the godly all day long?

You plot ruin; your tongue is like a sharpened razor. O worker of deception.

You love evil more than good and lying more than speaking the truth.

You love all words that hurt, O you deceitful tongue.

Oh that God would demolish you utterly, topple you and snatch you from your dwelling, and root you out of the land of the living!

The righteous shall see and tremble, and they shall laugh at him saying, “This is the one who did not take God for a refuge, but trusted in great wealth and relied on wickedness.”

I fear that post election in 2020, he and his “base” supporters will foment and partake in riots, with counter-riots… leading to martial law, with the current malignancy still the “legal” president. Then what would happen?

Paul Krassner, RIP. Where are the great protesters now that we need them. All we have now are lame political cartoons, as if that takes the place of activism. If portable phones and the Internet were around in the 60s, we’d still be fighting in Vietnam.
