I often see Schrank’s work in the Independent. Usually very good.
Much maligned creatures, the vultures, tch.
None of those vultures look like the Egyptian vulture though (they have one in London’s zoo else I wouldn’t have known).
Ahem. I must stop trying to find geographical inconsistencies in ‘toons and simply appreciate what the cartoonist is trying to portray.
Arab dictators= vultures. Tick. (although I do sometimes dislike it when cartoonists have to put labels within their ‘toons to explain it)
Internet apps instrumental in recent citizen revolts in a few countries, duly noted, especially by Arab dictators (wasn’t it interesting how Egypt could switch off their internet access very quickly? This caused much interest in my industry). Weren’t US legislators looking for an internet “kill switch” not too long ago? Gross lack of appreciation of how the internet is actually organised but I’m sure they were watching Egypt’s response with some interest as well.
Don’t get me wrong… but wouldn’t that look like FOOD? Yes, I know they are vultures and not hawks/eagles/osprey, but I’ve never seen any number of small birds scare a vulture before. And we’ve got tons of turkey vultures around here. If anything, those smaller birds are out of their habitat… hence, food.
I know, it’s just a comic and technicalities are supposed to be ignored for the larger statement… I just can’t help it.
^^^ Looks like I’m in your boat of over analyzing technicalities oMQ.
Oh, by the way. Obama had once said, while advocating for free internet, that the ability of a government to shut down the internet is a true sign of an oppressive or tyrannical government/dictator. Ironic that it’s now Obama, along with other libs, advocating for the ability of the President to shut down the internet in the US without any check from the Judicial or Legislative branches.
The fact that this is even up for discussion let along a work in progress in this country is a shameful account of just how much we’ve lost our way and have turned from liberty to real oppression of tyrannical governmental systems, like socialism/communism. Worse, it’s ignored and even denied by the largest segments of society and ignored, if not promoted, by the media.
Either the end is near, or something dramatic will soon occur (for better or for worse).
I have once seen a rottweiler scared away by mice.
Sooky Rottweiler says;
AAACK! The entire World doesn’t need to know, human!
And can you make those mean vultures go away? I see a tree and I need to go to the bathroom, like RIGHT NOW!
I haven’t seen small birds harass vultures.
They peck on crows, osprey, and eagles.
With vultures the threat of diseases like salmonella may protect them.
Recently several squirrels have died when hit by vehicles, and as many as 8 vultures fight for one squirrel.
The news tonight says that the leader of Yemen is not running for reelection.

On the other hand, small birds will harass hawks. Well, crows do too, and they’re not small. Well, there you go.
