When this arc began, people kind of jumped on me when I complained about making fun of patients with dementia. Now that it’s gone on for a while, I’m going to do it again. Dementia is the only issue of morbidity that people make fun of, and make jokes. When I’ve lectured about dementia I have said I would rather get cancer than dementia. Dementia is Insidious, it is awful. It is not funny!
Marie Kondo does not tell people to get rid of their good stuff. She helps them eliminate the things that don’t really matter to them. In the modern world it is so easy to accumulate STUFF that just bogs us down. Shed what you don’t really care about, and enjoy what you do.
