It’s the theme of his re-election bid. But rats have empathy and can be learn to be tolerant (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/28/opinion/empathy-research-morality-rats.html).

By Jonathan A. Greenblatt, CEO and national director of the Anti-Defamation League

    BEGINS:

President Donald Trump is facing a firestorm of controversy over his recent racist and xenophobic tweetstorm attacking liberal freshman members of Congress. And for good reason: His series of tweets suggesting that four U.S. congresswoman should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came” reads as if it was ripped from a white supremacist manifesto.

It was shocking to hear the leader of the free world make such offensive statements about other elected leaders. But it didn’t stop there. As the criticism increased, rather than retract his statements, the president instead doubled down, insisting that he’s not racist and that the members he’s attacking hate America and hate Israel.

While I also have been deeply troubled — even at times disgusted — by comments from some of these congresswomen about Israel and Jews and have disagreed strongly with some of their policy statements, none of that justifies speaking in such racist and xenophobic terms.

And let’s be clear: Trump’s language was absolutely and unquestionably racist despite his denials to the contrary.

    END QUOTED SEGMENTS

I must admit to a certain bemusement to the reaction from certain quarters in response to Trump’s weekend tweets – Trump has been known to be a misogynistic bigoted racist since he stood shoulder to shoulder with his KKK father, Fred, in the 1970’s as they blocked ANY black from access to any of their rental apartments while at the same time raking in money from the government in the form of low-rent subsidies for the poor.

Trump, of course, denies having a single racist bone in his body, which is undoubtedly correct, since, to my knowledge, there is NO SUCH THING as a “racist bone”, in the first place.

Actually I suspect that Trump’s “bigotry” and “racism” comes more from his idealization of his father than any great mental effort on his own part – Trump idolized his “racist” father and he continues that idolization to this day by idolizing anyone who “emulates” his father’s positions.

I will note, in passing, however, that from this point, forward ANY PERSON who claims to support Donald John Trump is doing so in the full knowledge that they are supporting a misogynistic bigoted racist, and, as such you are allying yourself with all that he espouses and all that he stands for – and, quite frankly, to my mind, Trump and his supporters make the slime molds living on the walls of Hell appear as the Seraphim in heaven, by comparison! They are what my grandmother referred to as “White Trash” as opposed to “Poor White Trash”!

(by way of explanation, in the Southern hierarchy or “social strata”, you had “the Blacks” as we refer to them, now, . Below them were the “Poor White Trash” – these were whites who, while poverty stricken, had at least the possibility of pulling themselves up “by their bootstraps”, as it were. At the very bottom were the “White Trash”. These unfortunate souls had at times raised themselves quite high among the classes while maintaining essentially the very basest of lowborn qualities – in other words, Donald J. Trump.)
