I’ve only just noticed that tweeting one of these strips is now a multi-step process that requires an ounce of thought. Hey, what a coincidence!

Always remember: James Buchanan, who was theoretically against slavery, but

    - Thought undoing it was worse because “if you emancipate your slaves, they will become masters,”

    - Let the Southern states secede without opposition (even Andrew Jackson did better than that!),

    - Who made it easy for the Confederate to take Federal arms, property, and forts with them and thus prolonged the Civil War,

Buchanan was a MODERATE in his day.

He’d fit in well with the so-called moderates today. When an FDR centrist Democrat like Bernie Sanders is as far left as we go, where does that mean the right has gone…?

It’s a lot easier to spread hate than understanding and compassion.
