She wasn’t pleasant to be around even when lucid, but dementia brought out the absolute worst qualities in my grandmother … ratcheted up the fear and paranoia to 11.
My M-I-L ate breakfast yesterday and took her bowl and spoon into the kitchen and came back with the bowl. We just keep reminding her what she was doing.
Ditto. So painful to read, so close to home. Looking back now and wishing she was as together as Gramps still is. One of the political cartoonists is also covering his journey with his mom elsewhere on GC.
I wish they wouldn’t, but how could I ever ask them to stop? All of us who have loved ones suffering from dementia need an outlet. Need to express the pain.
We all do what we must to cope, and I hope that whichever of the authors here are suffering can find some relief in walking this path.
