I used to work at a small UHF TV station where the boss was a penny-pinching tightwad. He bought sandbags for the studio but was too cheap to pay for the sand to go in them. He had the production staff go out behind the building and fill them with dirt. For years afterward, when you’d set one down, it would send up a cloud of dirt and leave a brown mark on the set.
