One of the more terrifying things about today’s GOP is that they may have killed it off deliberately. They don’t care about “moral authority” – just authority. Authoritarianism suits them just fine: look at gerrymandering, militarization of police, cozying up to dictators, supporting the super-rich over the other 99.9%, denying global warming or science in general…morality isn’t in them.
