The photograph of this sad tragedy is in papers and on the web. It makes me think of individual photographs that have affected public perception of events and thereby affected history.
The crying child, a little Vietnamese girl, running, still burning from napalm.
The self-immolated Buddhist monk.
Mary Ann Delvecchio, arms thrown up, her Delacroix face distorted in grief, kneeling over the body of Jeffrey Miller, killed at Kent State.
The starving African child, fading, a vulture keeping watch just a few steps away. This one, and many others.
Part of the power of those earlier ones was their appearance in magazines that might stay in a home or a waiting room for weeks. Newspapers too, though more ephemeral. With the near-demise of print media, we still have the web for photographs and cartoons like the one above. But I rather suspect they don’t have the same power to touch hearts and minds as the print images, if for no other reason than the persistence, the physicality, of a photo in print versus a computer mediated image.
Will we remember this important picture and this important cartoon in a week?
Remember, Trump was about to sign a reasonable (though by no means perfect) compromise UNTIL the talking heads on the Fox Propaganda Channel scolded him. Then he changed his mind. What a pathetic coward.
I bet the Lord Jesus Trump opposes abortions. He don’t give one iota damn about them after they are born unless they are blue eye blond haired females then he will wait until they can be seduced then he will have at them.
One a scale of 1 to 10, his empathy score is negative. But even he wouldn’t brag about this because he only brags about things that make him seem bigger to at least some of his base.
I love how the conservatives tell the poor in this country to pull themselves up by the bootstraps, or move where there are more opportunities. Yet when the people seeking asylum does the same thing, they say, stay where you are.

He’s never had a passion for humanity, and he KNOWS the world ridicules him, and hates him.
