I am still waiting to get the answer to exactly what reparations will solve? Will it solve the high rate of incarcerations of blacks? Will it solve the 75% of children born to a single mother within the black community? Will it solve the poor education in inner city schools? Will it lift the recipients out of poverty for the rest of their lives?
What exactly will be accomplished.
And this is no way is to say that slavery is/was right, nor that Jim Crow was fine and dandy. Both are disgusting issues. Stains on humanity, and our nation. Reparations will change nothing for those aggrieved in the past.
Those who know they are equal in dignity to those who persecute them do not need reparations. Those who do not know they are equal in dignity to their persecutors will be confirmed in their inferiority complex by reparations.
How about we pay reparations to every single citizen in the form of, oh, hmm, ah: In the form of single payer health care! This will naturally have the greatest effect among those who most deserve reparations, it’s good for the nation as a whole and it’s also very easy to make the decision about who deserves it, in what proportion. Win, win, win (and a “loss” only for the obscenely rich health insurance companies).
PS: We’re already seeing ads on TV lying about how awful Medicare for all would be. Gird your loins…

Lester wants us to ignore that racism is still flourishing in our country!

Perhaps this is a #16 blade? (Playful allusion for any who remember Nip/Tuck)

Lester is referring to the scars that slave owners had when slavery ended. But hell… the owners already got reparations.

Questions: Is racism necessary or essential? Can we survive if is eradicated? Is it inherent or learned?

Because obviously “Healing” means “ignoring” in M.Lester’s world.

Just read this one. More proof Lester should change his job. He certainly isn’t much of a thinker.
