That’s the worst kind of sports dad.

Perhaps, but Gordie became a respected businessman at an early age, and is probably still at it.

sombodyshort, I used to have a talk with the parents at the beginning of every season. I told them that A) this was recreational/educational, not the NHL, B) I was watching parents as well as kids, and I would talk with them after a game if they go out of line.

Radical Sports Parents are just plain dangerous and should not be tolerated. Throw the bum out.

Wow, this guy is terrible. And in front of little kids like Lizzie. Not a good example at all.

I feel sad for Nabuquduriuzhur, who had more than one Mom with a temper.

i was discussing the grand kids in a long conversation Sunday with the DIL married to my eldest boy (they have 2 boys in college) and we both mentioned that we thought my middle son had pushed his son too much in sports when very young, but his 2 kids are both in HS now and the boy does not seem to be scarred by a father who made him keep trying, he’s doing very well in athlettic AND scholastic things. His daughter has excelled in classes all along but her fav is community theater.

tmt - NOT Gordie Howe… Gordan Mayes… his parents are alcoholic and sometimes abusive.

I once lived across the street from a little league baseball park. One year they had some of the parents act as the umpires. The abuse got so bad, they had to give it up. The next year they hired Physical Education majors from the local university to officiate. Needless to say, nobody gave this big guys any lip. Sad, though, that it had to come to that.

They should definitely ban all parents from COACHING their own kids’ sporting events.

How sad and embarrassing for a child like “Gordie” to have an abusive father like this. :-(

Why can’t parents remember that these are children (7 or 8 years old) and that, yes, it is just a game?! They’re not angry professional players out there to “kill” their opponents for money … they’re just little kids out there to have fun and be members of a team.

I’m just trying to figure out what happened to Lizzie’s face in panel #3, and why is she suddenly bumped back to infant?
