Which Bob expounds while using the Internet, driving on city streets and interstate highways, relying on cops and the military to keep him safe, firefighters to protect his dwelling, agencies to ensure the water and food is safe, and putting money into Social Security and Medicare for the future. The ignorance is astounding.
As capitalism becomes more delicate and dysfunctional — technology/automation/AI replacing wage-earner/consumers, wealth inequity, etc — if not socialism, then what will best serve the needs of we the people?
How many times have you cried socialism this year?

Oh no the horror of people having to pay 2 cent tax on every dollar over $50 million dollars a year so that we can provide healthcare to everyone!
How oh how will they afford their 4th vacation house? Won’t somebody please think of the billionaires who got tax cuts and didn’t give their employees a living wage!
What I find interesting is that the word Socialism doesn’t have the same effect that it did during the middle of the last century. Just one more example of the “Boy who cried wolf” syndrome, people aren’t buying the scare tactics about it to the same extent anymore. What will you do when nobody is afraid of it anymore? What will you do?
Gorrell is banging the party drum here: “Socialism” is equal to “Communism” and “Communism” is godless and has been proven to be bad for a country, so Bernie is a godless communist and we should all vote for Il Douche.
My favorite response to “logic” such as this is to note that: Cabbages are round. Your head is round. Hence, your head is a cabbage.
There is no simple definition of socialism. There is a long history of socialist thought, and a lot of variation among socialists. Most socialists have some kind of class analysis. Most socialists would argue that individuals should not profit from social goods, such as natural resources. For instance, no individual or corporation (such as Nestle) should own (and bottle) public water resources. Not all socialists believe in a strong centralized government. For instance, almost all socialists believe in labor unions, which are not usually tied to the central government. (Though many communist governments have central control of the unions—this question was one of the flash points in the Polish Solidarity movement.) I got my first socialist education from my mother, who said that the basis of socialism is that social problems need social solutions. That was simplistic, but not entirely off base. The first step is to agree that some problems are social problems, not individual problems. Public health is an obvious example. Margaret Thatcher famously claimed that there are no social groups, just individuals—socialism is opposed to that idea.
Anyone want a good laugh, watch the Fox Business “Capitalism vs. Socialism” town hall debate. Talk about true Right Wing propaganda in a rigged debate. On the Right: Charles Payne, Herman Cain, Stuart Varney, Lou Dobbs, and Lisa KennedyOn the Left: Richard Wolff and Bianca Cunningham5 on 2; and of course no one that represents the Social Democratic mixed economy policies of Bernie Sanders or AOC.No wonder Fox News viewers and Trump supporters don’t understand any of the “healthcare for all”, “tax the billionaires and corporations”, “paid family leave”, “increased, fair wages” concepts of Socialist Democracy versus Oligarch/Crony Capitalism.

The Republicans are certainly trying. Mitch McConnell just called statehood for DC and Puerto Rico “socialism.”
That’s right – statehood and the right to vote are now “socialism.”

Surely Bob must have someone on his team who knows a bit of Photoshop to add just an air of perspective to that text. Sheesh.. what an amateur.
