Don’t get too close, mother birds have a tendency of appearing quickly and usually not happy when other’s mess with her eggs.

The barn swallow is a bird of open country that normally uses man-made structures to breed and consequently has spread with human expansion. It builds a cup nest from mud pellets in barns or similar structures and feeds on insects caught in flight. This species lives in close association with humans, and its insect-eating habits mean that it is tolerated by humans; this acceptance was reinforced in the past by superstitions regarding the bird and its nest. There are frequent cultural references to the barn swallow in literary and religious works due to both its living in close proximity to humans and its annual migration. The barn swallow is the national bird of Estonia. My aunt and her wife live in San Juan Capistrano and for years would see the swallows return in March and depart in October. The number of swallows nesting at the mission have decreased due to development (more nesting places besides the mission) and overuse of pesticides reducing the natural food supply for the swallows. The swallows also nest around the mission in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I have seen them feed at nights around outdoor lights. They are cool. Thanks Bea.

Okay, Sam. She is talking babies again. Please, sit down with her and explain the process of what getting pregnant means. I don’t think her mom did a good job explaining that since she thought she was pregnant when she was fat: parents these days aren’t exactly the smartest cookies in the jar.

The birds in this song aren’t necessarily barn swallows that I know of, but the song is, I suppose, apropos. Note: I couldn’t find the Bugs Bunny version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZgaCo1-mkU
