Political cartoons are extremely valuable at getting a point across instantly. I’m sure the Times prides itself on getting its point across in 10,000 words.
For what it’s worth all of the 39 comments about this NYT policy were opposed. Also, the NYT removed editorial from the national edition some time ago, this change applies to the international edition.
They now claim they’re going to do multi-panel cartoon editorials. I’m waiting for them to pick up Jack Ohman or Jen Sorensen or someone like that (yeah, I’ll believe them when I see it).
