There is 100% certainty that there will be a voter backlash (men as well as women, but mostly women) against the extreme anti-abortion politicos. (Obviously, it is 100% incorrect to call them “pro-life” based on their other policies.) The only question is, will the backlash be enough?
All of these pro-life government Representatives who make laws governing a woman’s body make me laugh at their ignorance… the statements some of these ?gentlemen? have made in Congress during committee sessions on laws governing a woman’s body are absolutely so ignorantly hilarious one wonders how anyone takes them seriously and how did they get elected anyway???
“Small government” conservatives give lip service to “FREEDOM!” and say they want “small government,” but they really only want “small government” for corporations and the few richest elites who already have the most. “Small government” conservatives really want Big Intrusive Government to micromanage the personal lives of everyone else.
When the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was being discussed, they whined about government coming between you and your doctor (in reality, the ACA guarantees the right to a doctor and does not interfere in any medical choices), but now it is the conservatives who want the government to micromanage the most private parts of women’s bodies.
PROgressives understand that what is important is not “small government” or “big government,” but the ROLE of government.
Democrats and PROgressives want government that will address legitimate issues of public policy to protect workers and consumers — from invasion, from crime, and yes, from corporate bullies that would dominate them. And yes, that “public health and safety” includes the right not to die because you can’t afford medical care. And we want government to manage and develop our shared PUBLIC environment and infrastructure. But we also want Big Intrusive Government to stay the hell out of our private lives, including private relationships (dictate who you can or can’t marry), private medical choices (reproductive choices, medical marijuana, end of life choices, stem cell therapies) or try to force PRIVATE religion into PUBLIC policy or subsidize it with special tax advantages (socialized religion).
Republicans and conservatives want to get government “off the backs” of corporations and the Wall $treet Bank$ters who collapsed our economy (they hate government for exactly the same reason criminals hate police), but they want Big Intrusive Government to nose its way into the most personal aspects of our private lives.
Robert LeFevre was a great libertarian thinker of the mid-20th century. He stated flatly that there are only two kinds of entities in the universe, people and property. One difference between them is that one can be owned, and the other cannot. A fetus meets none of the criteria for being a human being; a fetus is property. A woman is not. She has put 99.99 percent of the effort into building the fetus and it is her property to do with, to keep, dispose of, or give away as she wishes.

Oh, I see what he did there. Womb/room. But it’s still a pretty weak effort, imo; perhaps because the woman still has a question. Anybody who still has a question isn’t paying attention (and the GOPs working as hard as possible to keep their attention elsewhere).
I would very much consider going back to school to add a speciality in OB/GYN but I’m an old. I can drive a car and pilot a plane cross country if anyone would need it. Rich people flew to Sweden and Denmark in the 50s and 60s.
