“We the people” were the government, but creeping corporatism evolved into a full blown successful coup when the Supremes decided that corporations are people and money equals speech.
I’ve only dealt with Amazon and Google personally but Amazon left me with a negative impression of them. The thing that bothers me is that they all keep records on you without your having any business with them. I have adult children on Facebook who post photos that I may be in and probably identified as such. (How their cameras survived that ghastly experience, I don’t know.) I’m sure FB accumulated any data they could from those starting points. My life is really none of their business since I don’t participate in their ‘tar pit.’

I’m so relieved that it’s only Google and doesn’t include entities like ATT, VZ, or the NIH.

If you think “1984” was about Communism, read it again. It could be and may have been about Corporatocracy.
