The actual happening that the story is based on had 2 mutant whales that for the first and only time ever attacked whaling ships. The HMS Essex and sank her. Too bad more whales didn’t pick up on it and attack all such ships back then. Probably be more whales now.
Reminds me of the same odd behavior of the 2 male lions of Tsavo who started hunting, killing and eating only humans. Two examples of behavior mutation against their Omega Predator (us) I wonder why it happened? And if should happen again, what will we do?
For everyone who thinks that its a floatie that Jason is holding, I believe you are totally incorrect. What it is would be a rod that holds a shower curtain, for those of us that have a tub without a built on enclosure. Or, at the very least, that is exactly like the one I have looks like.

Is that a telescope in Jason’s other hand or a peg-leg? Because Jason cannot cosplay as the captain Ahab without a peg-leg.

At least Jason’s reading the classics.

“Nice” is a relative term, Roger. Be glad he’s not asking you to put on a whale costume.

About right now Roger is possibly contemplating taking advantage of the line: “And I only am escaped alone to tell thee”.

Does Jason even knows the fate of Ahab when he dealt with Moby Dick? Better not get Roger too grouchy.

At least Jason proves he is more than math and science (unless he just watched the movie).

Careful, Jason, or you’ll be grounded to the brig for the remainder of the Summer.

I saw Jason as a math geek, not a bookworm. Did Paige pay him to do her reading?

This blows.

“Nice” had better be a word you use, Roger. Otherwise this reader will drop this strip from its Sunday lineup.

Everything’s politics. This is a metaphor w/ Jason playing the GOP who now is close enough to “nice”, by comparison with the current Malignancy.

I watched a version of Moby Dick. I cheered for the whale.

instead of ’’nice’’ why not ’’nais’’ (scottish)
