    I put a bottle 1/2 full in the freezer. Then fill it up and have ice water for quite a while.

    Bottles held up well when frozen by Chinese street vendors. We’d buy one frozen, one unfrozen, and as the one melted we’d add from the other. We did make sure to check the seals as some vendors were known to refill bottles with (undrinkable by non-locals) tap water.

    It works if the bottle was designed to stretch. That’s why the big dimple in the side of U.S. milk jugs.
