Bottles held up well when frozen by Chinese street vendors. We’d buy one frozen, one unfrozen, and as the one melted we’d add from the other. We did make sure to check the seals as some vendors were known to refill bottles with (undrinkable by non-locals) tap water.

I put a bottle 1/2 full in the freezer. Then fill it up and have ice water for quite a while.
