As one who has been around pigeons all my life (I used to feed them in my yard, had several as indoor pets, and my brother raised them), I can testify that pigeons do indeed make all kinds of noises, including one that sounds like a crow cawing. They do that when they are agitated – disputing who is going to eat that food, sit on that ledge, etc. Or in this case, chase away Poncho! They don’t just “coo” – they make a variety of interesting sounds.
