Definitely an understatement.

Obviously the mullahs are insane. Why would any sane leaders build up their military just because Trump is moving carrier groups, bombers, and 120,000 marines to their borders?

Not to worry.

We’ll be treated as liberators.

The war will pay for itself.

The war will be over in six weeks, six months, tops.

I went to an Ivy League school. I’m very highly educated. I know words, I have the best words.

He is not dumber than Bush — what he is, is even more arrogant. Yeah, I know. I did not believe that was even possible.

Another Republican born rich, who has always had people to clean up his messes.

What could be Greater than for America to invade somewhere else? Again.

Well you share hateful, violent, immature, policies toward women that come from your prejudiced “faithful”. You both have crippling malignant narcissism. Both of you think you’re “above” the law, science, and nature. I don’t know that I could say either is the crazier one.

And why are these loons still in office? It’s a sick world…..

Crazier…. We always need another Iraq or Afghanistan, a great distraction from the self-inflicted domestic problems.

I’m so old I remember when America prided itself on being BETTER than the bad guys.

Iran signed onto a treaty that was WORKING, they were complying with inspections. Trump throws it away despite this success because it was done under Obama and Trump wants to be a “war president”. The other countries that negotiated and signed the treaty are trying to hold the agreement together, but Trump is threatening anyone that trades with Iran with sanctions. Diplomacy works far better than threats.

Have you read that The Lord wants to get other countries involved to mediate a way out of his mess.

They don’t consider themselves to be crazy at all. Dedicated, and fighting an uphill battle, sure.

The culture in the middle east, be it Arab, Persian, Afghan, understands and respects overt power. They start “negotiations” with a show of force and follow on with imposing the details of the “agreement”. It isn’t about religion. The mind set extends beyond the birth of Islam.

Many of the western “hawks” are simply people who understand this critical difference between our cultures. What we in the west view as a rational system of negotiating prior to conflict, they view as weak and foolish.

I strongly recommend Culture and Conflict in the Middle East by Philip Carl Salzman. He explores the overwhelming influence of tribal and clan relationships on governments and leadership in the region. It won’t likely cause you to change your opinions how we should behave but it will give you greater insight into how people in that region behave, and why.

Many, perhaps most of the motivations and principals we project onto people in the region are incorrect. We expect them to think like us, react like us and to have the same baseline belief system at their core. Our cultures are so very different that such thinking is absolutely counterproductive.

Bonespurs and company are many times crazier, and more dangerous, than Iran. Which, what business do WE have sending our ships to control territory in THE PERSIAN GULF? Bonespurs is also upset that the Gulf of Mexico can’’t be named “Trump Lake”. Even the Gulf of California is named such because Spanish speakers named it. What’s in a name? Sometimes, it’s important. (South China Sea also comes to mind as another area the US is trying to control, more so than either Japan or China.)

Iran isn’t Iraq or Afghanistan. I want to see how this one goes over, from Canada…
